Since 2018, the organization El Poder de Ser Mujer has been training entrepreneurs interested in entering the food service industry. In 2022, with the incredible support of Employ Prince George’s and WorkSource Montgomery County, we launched the Culinary Arts Cooking Program and Pastry Arts Baking Program.
In all, we have trained around 1000 people in culinary arts businesses.
We have helped 1000 people gain ServSafe Food Manager Certification enabling them to own or work in the food service industry. We have also helped more than 20 entrepreneurs to assemble their Food Trucks and more than 100 to set up their catering businesses.
These programs also create job opportunities, since participants have more options to get a job with better pay after they acquire these skills, and to offer employment to others in their businesses.
The Main Objetive
The main objective of this directory is to encourage and promote local businesses, providing a platform where the entrepreneurs supported and promoted by the organization El Poder de Ser Mujer will be able to publicize their products and services to a wider audience. Through this directory, we seek to promote the interaction and collaboration between entrepreneurs and customers in the metropolitan area, generating growth and development opportunities for these local businesses to thrive.
Vision
The You Power Kitchen Directory is an initiative that seeks to create a space for visibility and promotion for all graduates of the Food Service Entrepreneurship Program and the Baking Program who have started their own businesses. This directory will serve as a portfolio that brings together all these companies, offering detailed information about the products and services they offer.
